The Chartridge Curriculum
It is our aim to foster a love of learning in our children and to provide opportunities for them all to be inspired and achieve. We know that our children are enthusiastic and keen to learn particularly when given the opportunity to explore and appreciate how many of the subjects are related, through a thematic approach and within a meaningful context.
We believe strongly in the Growth Mindset philosophy which means that all of our children are given the opportunity and encouragement to succeed at whatever challenge they are faced with.
The National Curriculum is just one element in the education of every child. There is time and space in the school day and in each week, term and year to range beyond the National Curriculum specifications. The National Curriculum provides an outline of core knowledge around which our teachers can develop exciting and stimulating lessons to promote the development of pupils’ knowledge, understanding and skills as part of the wider school curriculum.
The National Curriculum comprises of twelve subjects, classified in legal terms as 'core' and 'foundation' subjects.
CORE: English, Mathematics, Science
FOUNDATION: Art, Music, Geography, History, Computing, Design Technology, PSHE, Foreign Language (French) & Religious Education

The National Curriculum in England
Our curriculum has been designed to embrace the objectives of the National Curriculum but also allows our pupils to learn through a series of exciting topics that lend themselves particularly to our school and locality or the children’s interests wherever possible.
Each term we enrich our curriculum with additional events which include visitors to school, day trips, residential visits away, sporting events and themed days.
